Change your legal sex information at University

How to change the information held by the University about your legal sex and why you are asked for this information.


You’ll need to complete an online form to , or both.

You are required to provide your legal sex (whether as defined at birth or following gender reassignment), but giving more details about your gender or gender identity is optional. We encourage students to provide this data so that we have a better understanding of our student population.

Whilst the University does collect information on whether students consider themselves trans or to have a trans history and on whether your gender identity matches your sex as registered at birth, we do not collect or hold data on the gender students identify with. 

The University collects information on legal sex, gender identity and transgender identity for equality monitoring purposes. We are also required to provide some of this data to the and Education.  

You will be asked to provide your preferred first name and personal pronouns, so that we know how to refer to you. Learn how to change your name or title at University.
